Layers of Time I

Layers of Time explores the relationship between memory, space, and temporality through the projection of archival photographs onto the interiors of buildings in Florina, that were constructed between 1920-1903. The projections take place inside former shops and public buildings near the historic “Diethnes” hotel, in a neighborhood that shaped my own lived experience. Human figures and architectural surfaces intertwine, creating layered images where past and present coexist.

Projected inside abandoned shops and former public spaces, the archival images are transformed by the traces of time—walls, textures, staircases, and decay. These interiors actively reshape the figures, forming new narratives and what can be described as anthropo-landscapes.

Light, digital processing, and spatial layering contribute to a sense of suspension and theatricality, allowing memory to emerge not as representation, but as a spatial and temporal experience.
